Penn Rushes Past Princeton In Sprint Football
November 06, 2010 | Sprint Football
Mike Bagnoli ran for 266 yards, the second-best single-game total in school history, and matched his four-touchdown performance against Princeton from a year ago to lead Penn to a 70-0 win over the Tigers Friday at Franklin Field.
The win gave Penn a share of the College Sprint Football League championship with Army, who won a thrilling 32-30 game over Navy. Army, Navy and Penn all entered the final game even in the league standings, meaning the Army-Navy winner would tie Penn if Penn defeated Princeton.
Princeton finished its season at 0-7.
Bagnoli came into the game needing 256 yards to become the second Penn sprint football player to reach the 1,000-yard mark for a season, something Tim Ortman had done twice in the 1990s. With his big night, Bagnoli finished his senior season with 1,010 yards.
Jaison Zachariah threw for 150 yards for Princeton, while Kees Thompson had a team-best four receptions.
Andrew Gabriele and Atraya Dixit made 11 tackles each for Princeton.
Penn led 7-0 after the first quarter but scored four second-quarter touchdowns to break the game open. Penn rushed for 410 yards in the game.
