Gegan Named Athlete of the Week, Presented by Coach USA
December 06, 2010 | Men's Fencing
Junior epeeist Cooper Gegan led the men's fencing team with 12 individual victories during a 5-0 day for the Tigers Sunday at the Sacred Heart day of dual meets, including a 15-12 victory over defending NCAA champion Penn State. It was the first time in 17 tries that the Tigers defeated the Nittany Lions in a dual meet.
For tallying the most wins in an overall victorious day for the Tigers, Gegan has been selected as the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, presented by Coach USA.
The day of dual meets was the last dual event for Princeton until a two-day event at Northwestern on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6.
The Tigers will look to defend their 2010 Ivy League title in February, when the league round-robin, a two-day event this year on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13, comes to Jadwin Gym.
