Aemisegger, Monroe To Represent Princeton At 2010 NCAA Championships
March 10, 2010 | Women's Swimming and Diving
Senior Alicia Aemisegger and sophomore Meredith Monroe, both of whom are former All-Americas, will represent Princeton at the 2010 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held March 18-20 in West Lafayette, Indiana. Princeton will try to add a diver at this weekend's Zone 'A' Diving Championships at Rutgers.
Aemisegger is a 10-time All-America honoree for Princeton, a feat that includes nine individual All-Americas. She has reached seven NCAA championship finals and has placed as high as second in her career. A former 2008 Olympic Trials finalist in the 400 IM, here are all of Aemisegger's All-America performances:
2007: 500 free - third; 400 IM - second; 100 breast - 15th
2008: 500 free - fifth; 400 IM - fourth; 800 free relay - 15th; 1650 - eighth
2009: 500 free - ninth; 400 IM - fourth; 1650 free - third
In her three main NCAA events, she will enter the championships with a Top 6 time in each. She has the fourth-ranked time in both the 500 and 1650 and the sixth-ranked time in the 400 IM.
Monroe swam a heroic anchor leg in the 2008 800 free relay to help Princeton earn its first All-America relay honor since 1981. She will compete in an individual event this year; her winning swim of 1:55.58 at the HYP meet ranks 33rd nationally.
Monroe and Aemisegger join four other Ivy League swimmers at the NCAA Championships. Harvard qualified both Alexandra Clarke and Katherine Mills, while Yale qualified both Alex Forrester and Susan Kim.
