Women's Lacrosse Begins Ivy League Campaign at Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/10/10) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team begins its Ivy League campaign on Saturday, March 13 when it travels to Brown for a 1 p.m., game. This is the earliest Princeton has played an Ivy League game, by nine days, since the conference began sponsoring the sport in 1980.

The Tigers have won the last 17 Ivy League openers, with their last loss coming in 1992, a one-goal game to Harvard.
Eye on the Tigers Princeton is 1-2 on the season losing its last two games to Rutgers and No. 6 Duke. The Tigers opened the season with a 10-9 overtime win over Johns Hopkins on the road. The Tigers average 9.00 goals per game and are allowing 11.33. Senior Kristin Morrison and junior Lizzy Drumm lead the team in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Morrison has scored eight goals and three assists and Drumm has seven tallies and three assists. Freshman Charlotte Davis has six points and freshman Caroline Rehfuss and senor Jenna Washabaugh have four points apiece. Junior goalkeeper Erin Tochihara has started all three games and has made 31 saves on 64 shots. She has an 11.82 goals against average and a .484 save percentage. Senior goalie Kaitlyn Perrelle has also seen playing time, playing the final 18 minutes against Duke, making two saves on three shots. Head Coach Chris Sailer will be coaching her 400th career game and is just three wins away from earning her 300th victory.Princeton holds a dominating 28-3 record over Brown in the all-time series. The teams first met in April 1980 when Princeton won a 7-2 game. The Tigers are currently riding a 19-game win streak over the Bears, which dates back to May 1991. Brown's last win was an 11-6 game in April 1991. Last season Princeton earned an 8-7 win on Senior Day after being tied 6-6, with 7:11 to play.
Brown is 2-1 on the season with wins over Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac and its lone loss at Boston University. The Bears are undefeated when playing at home. The team averages 10.67 goals per game and holds opponents to 8.33. Sophomore Kaela McGilloway leads the team with nine points off of a team-best seven goals and two assists. Junior Paris Waterman has six goals and one assist while senior Bethany Buzzell and freshman Lindsay Minges has five points apiece. Senior Kara Kelly leads the team in ground balls with 11 and has six draw controls and three caused turnovers. Senior Molly McCarthy has a team-best seven draw controls, while Waterman and junior Krissi Penikis have a team-high four draw controls each. Sophomore Isabel Harvey has played every minute in goal for the Bears and has made 18 saves and allowed 25 goals, for an 8.33 goals against average and a .419 save percentage.
