Freshman Diver Qualifies For 2010 NCAA Championships
March 14, 2010 | Women's Swimming and Diving
Freshman Bryna Tsai, whose rookie efforts helped the 2010 Princeton women's swimming and diving team win the Ivy League Championship two weeks ago, extended her season Sunday at the Zone 'A' Diving Regionals and will complete her freshman year at NCAAs this week.
While Tsai's scores on the one- and three-meter boards aided the Tigers' winning effort two weeks ago, it was the score in her specialty event -- the platform -- that earned her a spot at NCAAs. Needing a top-two spot in the platform finals, Tsai improved from her third-place score in prelims to place second with 462.50 points.
Tsai will join Princeton teammates Alicia Aemisegger and Meredith Monroe at the NCAA Championships this week at Purdue and will try to earn the Tigers' second All-America diving honor in as many seasons. Last year, senior Katie Giarra earned All-America Honorable Mention.
