March 29, 2010 | Women's Lacrosse
PRINCETON, N.J. (3/29/10) - Princeton head women's lacrosse coach Chris Sailer won her 300th career game on Sunday, March 28 against Georgetown, in a 15-14 overtime game.
Sailer is just the second Division I coach to reach the 300-win plateau, along with Cindy Timchal (Northwestern, Maryland and Navy), and is the only active Princeton coach to boast 300 wins.
"Chris is simply one of the greatest coaches in the game," assistant coach Michele DeJuliis said. "Winning 300 games for any coach is amazing and winning it in a hard fought overtime thriller makes it that much sweeter. Her commitment, dedication and drive are inspiring and I'm just happy to be a part of it."
A member of the National Hall of Fame, Sailer has guided the Tigers to three NCAA Championships, 11 national semifinals, 18 tournament appearances and nine Ivy League titles during her 24 seasons as head coach.
She has earned the national Coach of the Year award three times and has won six Mid-Atlantic regional coach of the year Awards.
Sailer has coached more than 40 All-Americas, a Tewaaraton Trophy winner, nearly 40 first-team All-Ivy selections, 10 Ivy Players of the Year and eight Ivy League Rookies of the Year.
"Above all else, Chris is a teacher of the game of lacrosse," senior co-captain Kristin Morrison said. "Her love for the sport inspires us all each and every day. Through lacrosse, Chris has taught me the meaning of dedication, perseverance and heart. Her wealth of lacrosse knowledge along with her pursuit to push her athletes to attain their potential is something that I truly admire about Chris."
