Women's Lacrosse Begins Three-Game Homestand Hosting Cornell on Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/1/10) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team begins a three-game homestand on Saturday, April 3 when it hosts Cornell at 1 p.m.
The game will be webstreamed live on GoPrincetonTigers.tv for subscribers. Live audio and stats will also be available free of charge.
Princeton is 4-5 overall after a 14-12 loss to Temple on Wednesday. The Tigers are 0-4 when playing at home this season and are ranked No. 17 and 20 in the national polls. Junior Lizzy Drumm, the Inside Lacrosse/Nike Player of the Week leads the team with 25 goals and six assists for 31 points, while senior Kristin Morrison has a team-best eight assists and 13 goals for 21 points. Sophomore Barb Previ follows up with 18 points while Cassie Pyle has 13 and Charlotte Davis has 12. Junior Erin Tochihara has started all nine games in net for the Tigers and has made 71 saves on 153 shots for an 11.16 goals against average and a .464 save percentage. Senior Kaitlyn Perrelle has seen action in six games and has made 14 saves on 32 shots for an 8.77 GAA and a .438 save percentage.
Princeton dominates the series with Cornell winning 29 of 31 games. The Tigers are on a 22-game winning streak over the Big Red that dates back to 1989. The last time Cornell won was an 8-2 game in April 1988.
Princeton and Cornell have faced two common opponents this season, Rutgers and Columbia. The Tigers lost to Rugers by one and defeated Columbia by 10; while the Big Red lost by two to Rutgers and defeated Columbia by the same number.
Cornell is 2-6 on the season and is fourth in the Ivy League standings with three other teams. The Big Red have lost their last four games including a 15-6 loss to Penn a week ago. Sophomore Jessi Steinberg leads the team in scoring with 21 goals and an assist for 22 points. Junior Libby Johnson has 16 points off of nine goals and seven assists, while sophomore Shannon McHugh has tallied eight goals and two assists for 10 points. Four other players (Katie Kirk, Lauren Halpern, Olivia Knotts, Shannon Tierney) have more than one point. Cornell uses a two-goalkeeper system. Sophomore Kyla Dambach has made four starts and has a 9.73 GAA and a .431 save percentage, making 31 saves on 72 shots. Senior Kristen Reese has started in three games and has a 9.87 GAA and a .308 save percentage stopping 16 of 52 shots.
