Women's Lacrosse Hosts Rival Penn on Wednesday Night

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/19/10) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team hosts rival and three-time defending Ivy League champion Penn on Wednesday, April 21. The first draw is at 7 p.m., at Princeton Stadium. The Tigers will show their support for Autism Speaks and will have brief halftime spot to highlight the organization.
The game will be broadcast on a tape delay on Verizon FiOS1 and will be webstreamed live on GoPrincetonTigers.tv. Fans can also listen to the play-by-play from Ed Benkin and follow live stats free of charge.
Princeton is 5-8 overall and 3-2 in the Ivy League after a tough 11-9 loss to Harvard on the road this past Saturday. Junior Lizzy Drumm and senior Kristin Morrison each have 34 points, while Drumm scoring a team-high 26 goals and eight assists. Morrison has a team-best 11 assists to go along with 23 goals. Sophomore Barb Previ also has 11 assists and 11 goals for 22 points. Classmate Cassie Pyle has scored 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. Sophomore Lindsey deButts leads the team in ground balls with 30, draw controls with 30 and caused turnovers with 18. Junior Erin Tochihara has earned all 13 starts in goal. She has made 109 saves on 228 shots for a .478 save percentage and a 10.49 goals against average.
Princeton has an 18-15-3 record in the all-time series with Penn, which began in 1974. The Quakers have won the last three games, including a 10-5 win last season. Prior to that the Tigers won 13 straight beginning in 1994.
Penn is 10-3 overall ranking No. 5 and 6 in the national polls. The Quakers are undefeated in the Ivy League with a 5-0 mark and have secured a place in the Ivy League Tournament. Ali DeLuca leads the team offensively with 31 goals and nine assists for 40 points. Giulia Giordano and Courtney Lubbe each have 16 assists and have 36 and 31 points, respectively. In between them is Erin Brennan with 35 points. Giordano leads the team in ground balls with 26, while DeLuca has a team-best 27 draw controls. Barb Seaman is the team leader in caused turnovers with 17. Goalie Emily Szelest has started all 13 games and has made 64 saves on 147 shots for a .435 save percentage and a 6.93 goals against average.
