Women's Swimming Tops Mid-Major Poll; Teeter Featured On Swim Talk
April 22, 2010 | Women's Swimming and Diving
On the heels of yet another Ivy League championship season and Top 20 finish at the NCAA Championships, the Princeton women's swimming and diving team has recently been named the top team in the CollegeSwimming.com/CSCAA Mid-Major Rankings. Head coach Susan Teeter, who won her 15th Ivy League title recently, was also recently featured on The Swimmers Circle.
Princeton continued its recent era of dominance over the past year by completing a perfect regular season and topping host Harvard by 27 points to win the 2010 Ivy League title. It was Princeton's ninth title in the last 11 years and the 15th title overall for veteran head coach Susan Teeter. The perfect regular season extended the Tigers' unbeaten streak to 30, only 17 behind its school record of 47 straight wins, set between 2000-04.
Beyond winning the Ivy League title, Princeton sent swimmers Alicia Aemisegger and Meredith Monroe, as well as freshman diver Bryna Tsai, to the 2010 NCAA Championship meet in West Lafayette, Ind. Aemisegger, who was recently named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Decade, completed her career with her 11th, 12th and 13th All-America honors, while Tsai began her career with her first All-America honor on the platform. Those contributions sent Princeton to 18th in the overall NCAA standings, the top spot for any non-scholarship program.
That performance led the way to Princeton's top spot in the CollegeSwimming.com/CSCAA Mid-Major Rankings. Ohio University, Towson, Harvard and Miami-Ohio rounded out the top five, although Princeton was the only team in that group to crack the Top 25 at the NCAA Championships.
Following the season, Teeter was interviewed for "Swim Talk" by The Swimmers Circle, an online blog dedicated to the sport of swimming & diving. The interview with Teeter focused, naturally, on coaching college swimmers — both in and out of the pool. You can read the full interview by clicking on the Swim Talk link earlier in the paragraph.
