April 08, 2010 | Men's Volleyball
The Princeton men's volleyball team played with fire one too many times and was finally burned. After five consecutive 3-2 home victories, Princeton finally fell in a five-set match. A gritty Stevens Tech team hit .583 in the final set for its 20th win of the season, while Princeton will now look ahead to its final divisional weekend.
Stevens Tech moved to 20-11 on the season with a 25-30, 30-26, 30-26, 23-30, 15-11 win over Princeton, which fell to 10-8 on the season. Princeton remains in second place in the Tait Division with a 4-4 record and needs only one victory at either Juniata or George Mason to assure at least third place in the division.
Freshman Pat Schwagler led Princeton with 25 kills, while fellow outside Vincent Tuminelli recorded 19 kills for the Tigers. Sophomore setter Scott Liljestrom recorded 68 assists, while freshman libero Sean Cotter led all players with 12 digs. Freshman middle Michael Dye recorded 15 kills and five blocks, while senior middle Jeff McCown recorded 11 kills and hit .667 for the match.
Princeton will begin its weekend Friday night at Juniata; in their first match, Princeton rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Eagles.
