Men's Water Polo Tops Harvard 14-9; Wins Third Straight

PRINCETON (9/11/10) - The 18th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team rallied from a pair of two-goal first-half deficits to defeat Harvard 14-9 on Saturday night at DeNunzio Pool. Princeton took its first lead midway through the third quarter when as part of a five-goal run that turned a 7-6 deficit into an 11-7 lead.Harvard built leads of two goals at 3-1 and 5-3 in the first half, but Princeton rallied to tie both scores only to again fall behind. The Tigers trailed 6-5 at the half and 7-6 in the third period before going on a run to turn momentum in the game. Tim Wenzlau evened the score at 7-7 and Mike Helou's goal at 4:47 put Princeton ahead for good. Kurt Buchbinder, Tommy Donahue and Helou added goals as par tof the run that put the Tigers ahead by four goals.
Wenzlau led all scorers with five goals in the game. Donahue added four goals for the Tigers while Helou and Chris Cottrell both scored twice. Mike Merlone made eight saves in the cage.

With the win, Princeton improved to 3-1 on the season and has now won its last three games after falling dropping its season opener. Princeton hosts NYAC in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon.
