PRINCETON, N.J. (11/3/11) - The Princeton men's hockey team will make its second trip in two weeks to Hanover, N.H., when it takes on Dartmouth on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. First up is a stop at Harvard on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
Princeton returns to Thompson Arena where the Tigers went 0-1-1 against Brown and Yale at the Ivy Shootout. The Tigers most recently fell 5-2 to Quinnipiac in the home opener on Tuesday. Juniors Michael Sdao, Rob Kleebaum and Eric Meland along with sophomores Jack Berger and Matt Farris have two points apiece. Sophomore goalie Sean Bonar has played in two games and has a 2.92 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. Junior Mike Condon has a 3.04 GAA and an .885 save percentage in one game played this season.Harvard leads the all-time series with Harvard 145-54-11, since the all-time series began in 1902. The Tigers are unbeaten in the last two meetings with a 1-0 win at home in November following by a 4-4 tie on the road in February.
Princeton is Harvard's first opponent of the 2011-12 season. The Crimson defeated Western Ontario 7-4 in an exhibition game on Oct. 21. Harvard was 12-21-1 last year and 7-14-1 in the league finishing 10th in the team standings. Three of Harvard's top-five leading scorers from one year ago return including leading scorer, defenseman Danny Biega. Biega had 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points. Alex Killorn had 29 points on 15 goals and 14 assists. Conor Morrison had 19 points with five goals and 16 assists. The Crimson lost two goalies and have sophomore Raphael Girard in net. Girard played just 68 minutes last year and had a 4.37 GAA and an .881 save percentage. He made 27 stops in the Western Ontario exhibition.
Dartmouth owns a 94-83-13 edge in the 105-year history. The Big Green have taken the last three games with Princeton's last win coming in Jan. 2010, a 5-3 victory in Hanover.
Dartmouth went 1-1 in the Ivy Shootout last weekend, defeating Brown 2-1 and losing 2-1 to Yale. Freshman Tyler Sikura and junior Dustin Walsh both have two points while five others have one point. Senior James Mello played in net in both games and finished the weekend with a 1.51 GAA and a .940 save percentage. Dartmouth lost its top two scorers from last year, Scott Fleming and Adam Estoclet who combined for 29 of the team's 111 goals. The Big Green finished the 2010-11 season 19-12-3 overall and third in the ECAC with a 12-8-2 league record.
