December 07, 2011 | Women's Lacrosse
BALTIMORE (12/7/11) - Princeton head women's lacrosse coach Chris Sailer, along with director of athletic medicine Dr. Margot Putukian, have been named speakers at the US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion. They will join roughly 150 of lacrosse's top coaches, officials, trainers and administrators as presenters at the sport's largest educational and networking event, Jan. 13-15, 2012, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
"We've targeted leaders in lacrosse who are passionate about developing the game by sharing their knowledge with coaches and officials at the youth and high school levels," said Beth Porreca, director of events at US Lacrosse.
Sailer is a 2008 inductee into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. She will participate in the "You Make the Call" interactive session for coaches and umpires at 4 p.m. Jan. 14 alongside umpire Patty Daley. Sailer has won three NCAA championships, made 11 national semifinal appearances, 19 total NCAA appearances and nine Ivy League titles in her 26 years at Princeton. She has been named national Coach of the Year three times and regional Coach of the Year six times.
Dr. Putukian is the chair of the US Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee. She will participate in "Kinetic Panel: Fitness Focus" at 4 p.m. Jan. 13. The target audience of this panel discussion is men's and women's lacrosse officials.
Lacrosse coaches, officials and administrators can register for the convention online at www.uslacrosse.org/2012convention before Dec. 28 for $105, a savings of $45 on the walk-up price. Registration includes pre-event access to speaker materials and post-event access to video of all convention presentations (a $300 value). Herm Edwards, a nine-year defensive back with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and later the head coach of the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, will deliver the keynote address at 7 p.m. Jan. 13.
The US Lacrosse National Convention annually draws some 5,000 participants, and it includes three live demonstration areas, approximately 150 educational sessions, and Fan Fest, a portion of events open to the public inside the sport's largest exposition hall. Fan Fest tickets will be sold onsite at the convention center to the general public for $10 and to lacrosse players wearing team jerseys for just $5. Children 6 and under will be admitted free to Fan Fest, which runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 14, and will include demonstrations and autographs by players from the U.S. National Teams and the Philadelphia Wings.
