McGarvie and DeJuliis Named to US Roster for Champion Challenge

BALTIMORE, Md. (12/9/11) - Princeton women's lacrosse alum Holly McGarvie '09 and current assistant coach Michele DeJuliis will be reunited in Florida in January at the US Lacrosse 2012 Champion Challenge.
McGarvie will be on the US women's senior team, while DeJuliis will serve as an assistant coach. The US will play the English women's national team on Jan. 27, Maryland on Jan. 28 and Northwestern on Jan. 29 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
This will be the final training opportunity for the 38-player 2011-12 squad before the roster is trimmed to 24 in preparation for a summer competition tour in Oshawa, Canada, host of the 2013 World Cup.
In addition to playing, both U.S. men's and women's national teams will host National Team Player Clinics for youth and high school players in grades 3-12 Saturday, Jan. 28. And, the U.S. women's team coaching staff will offer a clinic for local coaches to learn "The Team USA Way.”
McGarvie has been with the US Lacrosse organization since 2006. She became a member of the national team in 2009 and helped the team win the 2009 Women's World Cup. McGarvie was named the 2009 Ivy League co-Player of the Year, and is just the third player in the Princeton history to earn Rookie and Player of the Year honors during a career. McGarvie finished her career with two Tewaaraton Trophy nominations, two All-America honors and four All-Ivy honors. McGarvie helped her team to four NCAA Tournament appearances and is in the top-10 in Princeton history in points, assists and ground balls in a career. She was also a four-year letterwinner on the field hockey team.
DeJuliis is in her seventh season as an assistant coach at Princeton. She was captain of the 2009 US Women's World Cup team that won the 2009 FIL World Cup in Prague. She had been a member of U.S. National Team program since 1994, and was an alternate on the 2005 World Cup team, before "retiring" as a player after the 2009 World Cup. A native of Baltimore, DeJuliis is a 1998 graduate at Penn State where she was a three-time All-American. In addition, she is the founder of The Ultimate Goal Lacrosse Club,
