Tochihara Nabs First Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week Honor

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/28/11) - Senior Erin Tochihara of the Princeton women's lacrosse team was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday, Feb. 28. This marks the fifth such honor of her career.
The senior goalkeeper backstopped No. 19 Princeton to a 9-8 win over No. 20 Johns Hopkins in the season opener on Saturday, Feb. 26, delivering the Blue Jays their first loss of the year. Johns Hopkins had a 5-3 lead at halftime, but Tochihara's team battled back to win the game. Tochihara would make eight saves in the second half helping her team on the other end of the field to score six goals. She would allow just three goals in the second half on 11 shots. She finished the game with 12 saves while allowing eight goals. She also grabbed two ground balls and caused one turnover.
Tochihara was also named to Synapse Sports (formerly womenslacrosse.com) honor roll for her outstanding play last week.
