DePaul Deals Men's Tennis Season's First Loss, 4-3
February 06, 2011 | Men's Tennis
CHICAGO -- A day after sweeping No. 60 Northwestern, the No. 73 Princeton men's tennis team was tripped up by DePaul 4-3 Sunday morning to conclude the weekend trip to Chicago.
Princeton swept the doubles point and went ahead 2-0 when Matija Pecotic gave up only a game against Sven Kasper at first singles, 6-0, 6-1. The Blue Demons came back to win the next three matches at second, third and fifth singles to take a 3-2 lead before Augie Bloom tied it with a three-set winner at fourth singles. That shifted the focus to sixth singles, where DePaul's Ben Hartman defeated Alex Faust in a three-set match in which the first two sets were decided by tiebreaks.
Princeton will host Fairleigh Dickinson in Jadwin Gym next Saturday before traveling to Harvard for the ECAC Championship the following weekend.
