PRINCETON, N.J. (3/10/11) – The Princeton women's lacrosse team opens up its Ivy League slate hosting Brown on Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m.
The game will be webstreamed on GoPrincetonTigers.tv. Fans can also listen to the live play-by-play online and follow live stats free of charge.
Princeton holds a dominating 29-3 record over Brown in the all-time series. The teams first met in April 1980 when Princeton won a 7-2 game. The Tigers are currently riding a 20-game win streak over the Bears, which dates back to May 1991. Brown's last win was an 11-6 game in April 1991. Last season Princeton topped Brown 16-6 in its conference opener on March 13.
No. 17-ranked Princeton is 2-1 on the season, losing its first game last Saturday at No. 4 Duke, a 19-12 game. The Tigers won matching 9-8 games over Johns Hopkins and Rutgers to start the season. Princeton averages 10 goals per game with success on 72.2 percent of its shots on goal. Senior Lizzy Drumm and sophomore Jaci Gassaway sit atop the scoring column with nine points apiece. Drumm is the team leader in goals with eight while Gassaway has six goals, including both game winners, and three assists. Junior Cassie Pyle adds eight points and sophomore Charlotte Davis has six. Junior Lindsey deButts and Pyle each have seven ground balls, behind the leader senior goalie Erin Tochihara who has eight. deButts leads the team in caused turnovers with four and draw controls with seven. Drumm also has seven draws. Tochihara has played every minute in goal and averages 10+ saves per game. She owns a .470 save percentage and an 11.29 goals against average, making 31 saves on 66 shots.
Brown is 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Ivy League after posting a 14-6 win over Columbia last Saturday. The Bears also defeated Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac, both on the road. The team's loss was to Boston University. Brown averages 14.75 goals per game and is holding teams to 10. Kaela McGilloway is the team's leading scorer with 19 points on 13 goals and six assists. McGilloway has scored all three game-winning goals for the Bears. Bre Hudgins also has 13 goals and one assist for 14 points. Sidney Jacobs leads the team in ground balls with seven, while McGilloway and Erin Roos are next with five. Alexa Caldwell has caused a team-high six turnovers with Roos adding five. Grace Healey has won 20 draw controls for her a team. Isabel Harvey has started in goal all four games and has made 15 saves on 43 shots for a 10.18 goals against average and a .349 save percentage. Backup Maggie Suprey has seen action in all four games as well and has made 10 saves on 20 shots.
