Men's Tennis Defeats Stony Brook, 6-1
March 06, 2011 | Men's Tennis
PRINCETON -- Bouncing back from its third one-point defeat of the season, the Princeton men's tennis team knocked off Stony Brook 6-1 Sunday afternoon in Jadwin Gym.
The 57th-ranked Tigers improve to 7-3 on the season, with all three losses coming by 4-3 scores. The win came a day after St. John's dealt Princeton its first home loss of the season by that one-point margin.
Princeton swept the doubles point behind the efforts of Matija Pecotic and Matt Siow, Augie Bloom and Alex Faust, and Michael Lin and Matt Spindler. Pecotic, Spindler, Siow, Dan Davies and Coleman Crutchfield contributed five points in singles play, with Stony Brook's point coming as the last match decided when the Seawolves' Roope Kailaheimo edged Bloom in a third-set tiebreak.
Princeton will be away from competition until its spring break trip to San Diego, Calif., where it will participate in the San Diego Invitational Mar. 17-19.
