Women's Tennis Closes Ivy Season with 6-1 Win over Cornell
April 17, 2011 | Women's Tennis
PRINCETON -- With a 6-1 win over Cornell Sunday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center, the Princeton women's tennis team capped its Ivy League season with a third straight victory to finish at 5-2 in league play and 12-9 overall.
Princeton has had a winning Ivy League season in eight straight years and a winning overall season seven straight years. A part of four of those seasons was Princeton's lone senior, Taylor Marable, who had a winning day in her final match at the Lenz Tennis Center, getting victories in both singles and doubles.
Against the Big Red, the Tigers took the doubles point and the top five singles matches to take the team victory. After Sunday's Ivy League action, Dartmouth and Yale lead at 5-1, while Princeton is 5-2, and Brown and Harvard are 4-2. The Tigers are still alive for a share of the Ivy League title if Brown wins its home match next Saturday over Yale, and if Harvard wins its home match next Saturday over Dartmouth.
