PRINCETON -- Staying in the thick of the Ivy League race, the Princeton women's tennis team knocked off No. 29 Yale 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
The win improves Princeton to 2-1 in Ivy matches with three road contests upcoming before the regular-season finale against Cornell on April 17. Next week, the Tigers will head to Dartmouth and Harvard before visiting Columbia on April 15.
Princeton won the doubles matches on courts one and two with Monica Chow and Rachel Saiontz contributing the point-clinching 8-6 victory at second.
Yale won two of the first three singles matches to go final to tie the afternoon at 2-2, but Princeton won the last three with Saiontz, Hilary Bartlett and Monica Chow getting the victories. Saiontz's win came against Elizabeth Epstein, ranked 115th in the ITA's latest national top 125.
Yale was Princeton's 10th ranked opponent of the season and the highest-ranked foe to fall to the Tigers.
