Trio Earns IWLCA All-America Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/31/11) - Junior defender Lindsey deButts, senior midfielder Lizzy Drumm and senior goalie Erin Tochihara have been named All-America by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, it was announced by the organization on Monday, May 30. Drumm has been named to the second team, while deButts and Tochihara earn third-team honors.
This is Drumm's first IWLCA All-America honor. She has been named all-region by the organization three times, including being a first-team selection this season. A unanimous first-team All-Ivy pick, Drumm was also named to the Ivy League All-Tournament Team. A Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List member and a Synapse Sports All-America, Drumm led the team in goals with 45 and added three assists for 48 points. She recorded a season-best six points at both Duke and Maryland. Drumm led the team in draw controls and was fourth in the league with 43 and won a season-high six at Duke. She scored a goal in 16 of 19 games and finishes her career ninth all time in points (1470), fifth in goals (143) and fifth in draw controls (106).
deButts earned the All-America trifecta, capturing the honors by the IWLCA, Synapse Sports and WomensLax.com. This is her first IWLCA All-America accolade. A first-team all-region selection, deButts was named first-team All-Ivy League this season. She paced the Tigers in caused turnovers with 31, ranking her second in the league in the category. She was third in the league and first on the team in ground balls with 41. deButts also won 24 draw controls, the second most on the team. deButts started in all 19 games and had a season-best six ground balls at Yale, four draw controls at Duke and caused four turnovers in three separate games.
This is Tochihara's second IWLCA All-America honor, having won second-team honors in 2009. She was also named an All-America by Synapse Sports this season. Tochihara has earned IWLCA first-team all-region honors in each of the last three seasons. A Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List member, Tochihara was also named an All-America by Synapse Sports, and honorable mention All-Ivy League. She posted a 12-7 record, starting in goal in every game, and stopped 181 shots, an average of 9.5 saves per game. Tochihara concluded with a 10.18 goals against average, ranking her third in the league and had the second-best save percentage in the league at .481. She finishes her career fourth all-time in saves with 518.
Princeton recorded a 12-7 overall record and was 5-2 in the Ivy League. Earning the No. 4 seed in the Ivy League Tournament, Princeton upset top-seed Penn on its home field 10-8 in overtime and topped Harvard 12-10 in the championship game to earn the league's automatic bid. The Tigers traveled to eighth-seed James Madison and came away with a 11-10 win to advance Princeton to the quarterfinal round. The Tigers' season ended at the hands of the national runnerup Maryland.
