Sophomore Andrea Kropp Places Second At World University Games

Andrea Kropp, the reigning Ivy League champion in the 100 and 200 breast, earned the silver medal in the 200 breast at the 2011 World University Games, held in Shenzhen, China.
Kropp, whose freshman season included a 2011 Ivy League team championship with her Princeton teammates, represented Team USA in the 200 breast final Tuesday. After holding third place through the first half of the race, she swam the fastest third split and actually led the field at the final turn.
China's Sun Ye won the final 50 and took gold in 2:24.63, while Kropp held off both Japan's Satomi Suzuki and Canada's Tera Colleen Van Beilen to win silver in 2:26.18. Suzuki won the bronze in 2:26.67.
