Women's Lacrosse Newbie Scores Six Goals to Lead U.S. to Victory
August 05, 2011 | Women's Lacrosse
The prospects of the 2012 Princeton women's lacrosse season got even brighter on Thursday August, 4, when incoming freshman Erin McMunn made a name for herself in the greater world of women's lacrosse.
The attacker from Westminster, Md./Winters Mill scored six goals to lead Team USA to a 19-5 win over Japan in the opener of the U-19 World Championship in Germany. For her efforts McMunn was named the Player of the Match.
It was quite the birthday gift McMunn gave herself as she turned 18 yesterday.
Her six goals were scored just two days after The Baltimore Sun wrote an article on McMunn entitled "McMunn Not to be Underestimated on U-19 National Team" - and it was correct.
McMunn and the rest of the Tigers hit campus in September to begin training and a fall schedule.
