Sprint Football to Face Off with Army Saturday
October 18, 2012 | Sprint Football
The Princeton sprint football team will open its final road swing of the year at Army on Saturday, Oct. 20. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in West Point, N.Y. versus an undefeated Black Knight team at 5-0, 4-0 CSFL.
The Tigers (0-5, 0-4 CSFL) are coming off their second consecutive one-possession defeat, this time at the hands of Franklin Pierce, 21-14, on Oct. 12. Princeton managed to even the score, 14-14, with 8:09 left in the third quarter, but it would not be enough to propel past the Ravens. An FPU pick-six would provide the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining in the quarter.
Army is averaging 46 points per game, while holding opponents to 11 en route to a perfect record thus far. Most recently the Knights defeated Penn 35-7 in Philadelphia on Oct. 13. Marquis Morris rushed in three of Army's five touchdowns, while defensively Rob Reckner had a team-leading nine tackles and John Barnett made an interception to hold the Quakers off.
The Black Knights own the all-time series versus the Tigers, 53-3-2, shutting Princeton out in three of the last four meetings between both squads.
Princeton will conclude the 2012 season at Penn on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
