Sprint Football Shutout at Army
October 20, 2012 | Sprint Football
The Princeton sprint football team suffered a 59-0 defeat by Army Saturday afternoon in West Point, N.Y. Behind an early offensive attack and solid defensive effort, the Black Knights handed the Tigers (0-6, 0-5) their first shutout loss of the year.
Army took a 24-0 lead in the first quarter and went into halftime up 45-0.
Princeton's second half defense managed to hold off the Black Knight offensive drives much more effectively. Following a scoreless third quarter, Army concluded the game with a pair of touchdowns.
As the offense struggled to find a way to drive the ball into the Army half of the field, the defense was led by Bob Dougherty and Richard Hildreth's 11 tackles apiece.
Princeton will conclude the 2012 season at Penn on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
