Women's Volleyball Remains Undefeated in Ivy Play, Defeats Cornell 3-1

The Princeton women's volleyball team remained perfect in Ivy League play behind a 3-1 victory over Cornell. The Tigers won the first two sets, 25-14 and 27-25, before falling in the third set, 25-20. An early offensive rally carried Princeton (8-7, 5-0 Ivy) to a 25-14 set four victory.
Princeton jumped out quickly on Cornell in the first set, easily earning the victory (25-14), but the second set proved to be a different story.
The Tigers again set an early pace with a 5-1 lead, but the Big Red would not go down without a fight. After holding a 19-12 advantage, Cornell would respond by taking its first lead 25-24. A Kendall Peterkin kill evened the score and an error by the Big Red's Lucy Zheng would put Princeton at the match point. Lydia Rudnick would score the game-winning point off a kill.
Rudnick led the Tigers with 19 kills in the match, adding nine digs and a pair of blocks as well.
In the third set, Princeton again would take a quick advantage, 4-1, but Cornell would claw its way back and eventually take control of the set, 9-8. From that point forward, the Tigers were unable to find a momentum surge and the Big Red would win the third set 25-20.
As they had done all evening, Princeton would quickly seize the lead to open the fourth set. Behind a 6-0 rally, the Tigers carried that momentum to cruise to a 25-14 win.
Princeton next heads New Haven, Conn. to face Yale on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in a battle for first place in the Ivy League. The road trip will wrap up at Brown the following afternoon at 4 p.m.
