PRINCETON, N.J. (4/10/12) - Sophomore Conor McCullough Princeton men's track & field team has been named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, presented by CoachUSA, for the week ending April 9.
McCullough set an Ivy League and Princeton record in the hammer throw to kick off the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday, April 6 in Princeton.McCullough won the hammer by throwing to 74.01 (242-10) on his third attempt. All five of his scored throws were over 71.31 meters. The next best throw was 10 meters short of that at 68.31 (224-01). McCullough held the previous best program and league records of 71.47 (234-06) which he set just weeks ago at the University of Central Florida Invitational.
His throw this past weekend ranks No. 1 in the nation. His throw at UCF is the third-best throw in the nation.
Princeton competes at the George Washington Invitational this weekend.
