Princeton Women set for Key Battle with Penn
Joe O'Gorman, Trentonian (4/24/12)
With their Ivy League Tournament hopes hanging by a thread the Tigers played a complete game and downed the Big Green to keep that stand of a chance alive and now they are faced with another must-win situation as No. 9 Penn invades Sherrerd Field at the Class of 1952 tonight at 7 p.m. A win and the No. 20 Tigers qualify for the upcoming conference tourney.
The top four teams qualify for the tournament and as strange as it may seem should Princeton defeat Penn, Harvard down Dartmouth on Friday and Cornell win at Brown on Saturday there would be a five-way tie for first.
The Tigers (7-6, 4-2 Ivy), though, are just focused with the Quakers (7-5, 5-1 Ivy).
"If we can play like we played against Dartmouth I like our chances," Princeton coach Chris Sailer said about Penn after the Dartmouth game. "We gained a ton of confidence. Penn is an experienced team and they have been in these situations a lot of times. They will challenge and they will compete and we need another great effort."
