deButts, Gassaway and Pyle Named First-Team All-Region

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/24/12) - Seniors Lindsey deButts and Cassie Pyle and junior Jaci Gassway have been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region selections, it was announced by the organization on Thursday, May 24.

The trio is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams, which will be announced on Sunday, May 27.

This is the third consecutive year deButts has been named first-team all-region. Last year she was named third-team All-America by the same association, and earned three other All-America honors by two other organizations. deButts earned three first-team All-Ivy League honors in her career and was on the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List this season. She led the team in draw controls with 22, was second in ground balls with 34 and had 14 draw controls. deButts concludes her career ranking ninth in career caused turnovers with 92, 10th in career draw controls with 99 and totaled 132 ground balls.

Pyle earns her second straight first-team all-region honor. A two-time All-Ivy League selection, Pyle was on this year's Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List. Pyle tied for the most goals on the team this year with 38, while adding eight assists for 46 points to finish third on the team. She finishes her career with 108 goals, 39 assists, 80 ground balls, 46 draw controls and 40 caused turnovers.

Gassaway makes first-team all-region for the second consecutive season as well. She was named first-team All-Ivy this year as Princeton's leading scorer with 38 goals and 16 assists for 54 assists. Gassaway scored in 13 of 15 games this season, had two seven-point games, and scored a career-best six goals on Brown. With her senior year awaiting, Gassaway has 78 goals and 31 assists for 109 points in 48 games.
