Women's Lacrosse Announces Class of 2016

PRINCETON, N.J. (7/10/12) - Princeton head women's lacrosse coach Chris Sailer has announced the recruiting class of seven student-athletes to join the team as the Class of 2016.
"We are very excited to welcome the deep and talented Class of 2016 to Princeton lacrosse," Sailer said. "As their bios detail, the players in this recruiting class are accustomed to winning, and we certainly like winners at Princeton! We feel this class has the ability to make an immediate impact on our program, and they are fortunate to have an exceptional group of returning players ready to help them make a smooth transition to Princeton and college lacrosse. We're looking forward to the many contributions the Class of 2016 will make over the coming four years to the great tradition of Princeton lacrosse".
Liz
Bannantine, 5-9, Defense, Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School
A
2012 graduate of the McDonogh School, Bannatine played defense for the Eagles
for three undefeated seasons. The Eagles were 46-0 during her tenure and won
the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM)
A Conference championship all three years. She was captain her senior season when she earned
Underarmour All-America honors and first-team all-metro honors. As a junior she
was second-team all-metro and as a sophomore she played in the 2010 Underarmour
Underclassmen All-America game with Team Baltimore. Bannatine also lettered in
soccer, and played club lacrosse with M&D Club Lacrosse.
Alexandra
Bruno, 5-7, Attack, Garden City, N.Y./Garden City
A
four-year letterwinner at Garden City High School, Bruno collected 287 career
points on 193 goals and 94 assists. She scored 93 goals and 43 assists as a
senior captain. She helped Garden City to a 76-9 record during her four-year
tenure, including two undefeated 21-0 seasons. The Trojans were four-time New
York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) state champions,
Long Island champions and Nassau County champions. A two-time US Lacrosse
first-team All-America and all-academic team selection, Bruno also earned
Underarmour All-America honors as a senior. She was named the MSG Varsity
Tri-State MVP in 2012 while earning a place on the first team, a year after she
was on the second team. Newsday named
Bruno all-Long Island twice and dubbed her the Long Island Player of the Year
in 2012, while Lacrosse Magazine
called her the Northeast Regional Player of the Year. Bruno was twice named
all-county and earned honorable mention as a sophomore. She was also named the
NYSPHSAA state championship MVP along with earning a place on the
all-tournament team. Bruno has earned a number of accolades from ESPN
including: No. 2 on the Top 25 attackers list, No. 6 on the Top 100 list, Rise
Underclassmen to Watch and All-America Honorable Mention. Inside Lacrosse also
placed Bruno on its Rising Senior Watchlist in 2011. Bruno played club for the
Long Island Elite, won a gold medal in the Empire State Games, played in two US
Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournaments and two UnderArmour
Underclassmen Games. A two-time News 12/Capital One Scholar-Athlete, Bruno also
was a four-year letterwinner for the state champion and four-time Long Island
and country championship field hockey team. She was an all-state and all-region
player, drumming up as many honors in the sport as in lacrosse.
Tate
Crosby, 5-6, Defense, Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain
Played
four years at defense for Cheyenne Mountain, where she earned 114 career points
on 84 goals and 30 assists, in addition to 181 ground balls and 114 draw controls,
while the team posted a record of 45-22. As a senior captain, Crosby scored 23
goals, five assists, 54 ground balls, 27 draw controls, 17 takeaways and 10
interceptions. Crosby is a three-time first-team all-league honoree, while
earning honorable mention all-league honors as a freshman. Crosby is a 2012
honorable mention All-America honors and an Underarmour all-academic honoree.
The Indians presented her with Defensive MVP accolades in 2011 and All-Around
MVP in 2012. She played club lacrosse with Team 180 in 2012 and was on Team
Colorado in 2010 and 2011. Crosby was also a four-year letterwinner in field
hockey and was team captain as a senior.
Anya
Gersoff, 5-8, Midfield, Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek
A
four-year letterwinner at Cherry Creek High School, Gersoff helped her team to
an impressive 84-4 record. During that time she scored 196 goals and 94 assists
for 290 career points. As a senior captain, Gersoff had 119 points on 84 goals
and 35 assists. The Bruins were back-to-back state champions in 2011 and 2010
and was the runner-up in 2009 and 2012. Gersoff was named first-team
All-America in 2011 and 2012 and was an honorable mention selection in 2010.
She earned first-team all-conference honors three times and first-team
all-state honors twice. In addition she has captured all-academic honors twice.
Tabbed by Lacrosse Magazine as one of the top 25 players to watch in 2012, Gersoff
played club lacrosse with Team 180.
Gersoff, a talented two-sport athlete, is a goalkeeper on the United
States Under 19 National Team. She
plans to play both sports at Princeton.
Maddy
Lynch, 5-7, Midfield, Springfield, Pa./Springfield
A
two-sport athlete at Springfield, Lynch guided her lacrosse team to an 81-13
record during her four years. In her career she tallied 186 goals, 62 assists,
179 ground balls, 125 draw controls. As a senior captain, Lynch scored 69 goals
and 23 assists while picking up 44 ground balls and winning 38 draw controls.
Lynch was twice named an Underarmour All-America and first-team All-Delco. She
earned first-team All-Central League honors and all-academic honors as a
junior, and as a senior was ranked No. 14 on ESPN's top girls lacrosse
attackers. The Cougars were district champions in 2009 and district and state
finalists as well as Central League Champions in 2010. Lynch was also a
four-year starter on the soccer team, and she competed in one season of indoor
track. She played club lacrosse for Phantastix and the Philly 1 team in the
national tournament.
Anna
Menke, 5-11, Attack, New Hampton, N.H./New Hampton
Menke
is a four-year letterwinner from New Hampton High School. She scored 246 career
points on 168 goals and 78 assists, including 49 goals and 26 assists as a
senior. A two-year captain, Menke earned the team's MVP honor as sophomore,
junior and senior. She was named a Connie Walkwitz New England Prep School
Women's Lacrosse All-Star all four year, was a Lake Region all-star in 2012
while being named a US Lacrosse All-America honorable mention. Academically,
she was named the Hampton School Charles W. Skip Howard Scholar-Athlete of the
Year in 2010 and was named to the US Lacrosse all-academic team. Menke guided
the Huskies to two Lake Region championships, while also lettering in soccer.
She played club for Granite State Elite and Western Upper New England.
Stephanie
Paloscio, 5-1, Attack, Hauppauge, N.Y./St. Anthony's
A
four-year letterwinner at St. Anthony's, Paloscio guided the Friars to a 62-10
overall record. She scored 28 goals and 26 assists in her senior season when
the team went 16-1. St. Anthony's is the No. 1 ranked team on Long Island and
has been nationally one of the top-10 teams two years running. Paloscio won
four Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) league championships
with St. Anthony's and was nominated to the all-league team. An Underarmour
all-academic honoree, Paloscio was named St. Anthony's Athlete of the Year at
graduation and also earned the 2010 Dellecave Award presented by the Suffolk
Hall of Fame and Newsday. She played
club lacrosse for Long Island Express in her sophomore and junior seasons, and
prior to that she played for the Long Island Yellow Jackets. Paloscio was also
an all-league player on St. Anthony's soccer team.
