First Road Test Awaits Sprint Football at Cornell
September 27, 2012 | Sprint Football
The Princeton sprint football team hits the road this weekend for its first away game of the year. The Tigers (0-2) travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to square off with Cornell (2-0) on a Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
The Tigers will look to snap the Big Red's winning streak, while finding the win column for the first time this year. Princeton has seen significant progress over the past two games in a variety of positions, but was upended in its last game by visiting Navy, 62-13, on Sept. 22.
Wide receiver Chris Cadman had a breakout game versus Navy, tallying two interceptions, including one in the end zone, and 14 tackles. On the year, Sean Conrad leads the rushing attack for Princeton, with 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Cornell enters Friday's game following its season-opening 42-34 six-overtime victory over Penn on Sept. 14, followed by a 26-21 win at Franklin Pierce on Sept. 22.
Quarterback Brendan Miller is 32-for-76 with three interceptions and five touchdowns, three of which were rushing. His main target has been receiver Abe Mellinger, who is averaging 17.0 yards and has two touchdowns. Defensively, John Kelder and Michael Monahan lead the squad with 19 tackles apiece.
