PRINCETON, N.J. (3/25/13) - The Tigers resume Ivy League action and look to maintain it's first-place standing in the league when they host Columbia on Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
Eye on the Tigers
The Tigers are coming off of a big 10-7 win over No. 12 Johns Hopkins from Saturday afternoon. The win improved Princeton's record at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium to 4-0 this season. At 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League, the Tigers are tied with Penn and Dartmouth in first place in the standings as the only undefeated league teams.
Eight Tigers are in double digits in scoring led by sophomore Erin McMunn. McMunn has 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points. Freshman Anya Gersoff and junior Sarah Lloyd each have 15 points. Gersoff has 11 goals and four assists, while Lloyd has nine helpers and six goals. Seniors Jaci Gassaway and Charlotte Davis contribute 12 points apiece, while freshman Alexandra Bruno and senior Mary-Kate Sivilli chip in 11 each. Lloyd id the team leader in both draw controls and ground balls with 21 and 14, respectively. McMunn is second on the team in draws with 13, followed by Colleen Smith with 12. Senior Caroline Rehfuss and freshman Liz Bannantine have caused the most trouble for the opponent's offense with 13 and 11 caused turnovers, respectively. Junior Caroline Franke has started in goal in the last three games. She has a .431 save percentage and a 9.77 goals against average with a 3-2 record.
The Series
Princeton is undefeated in the all-time series with Columbia, winning each of the 15 meetings the teams have played since 1998.
Scouting the Lions
Columbia is 1-7 overall but has some confidence coming into tonight's game. The Lions took No. 13 Dartmouth toe-to-toe falling 8-7 on Saturday at home. The Lions have lost their last six games, three of which were by one goal.
Kacie Johnson leads the team offensively with 27 goals and five assists for 32 points. Paige Cuscovitch has 18 points on 16 goals and two assists. In eight games she has been awarded 14 free-position attempts and has scored on six of them. Kelly Beuchel is also in double digits in scoring with 11 goals and two helpers for 13 points. She leads the team in draw controls with 18, while Ashley Rinere has 13 and Cuscovitch has 12. Cuscovitch has the most caused turnovers and ground balls on the team with 24 and 28, respectively. Skylar Dabbar has started in goal in six games and has a .330 save percentage and an 11.71 GAA. Colleen Packer has played in seven games and has made two starts. She owns a 10.99 GAA and a .354 save percentage.
