The combination of Cody Kessel and Pat Schwagler led the Princeton men's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Division III power Juniata in the first of a three-match homestand to conclude the regular season.
Princeton, which has already clinched a berth in the EIVA postseason, will host Hunter College Sunday at 2 pm. On Saturday, April 20, Princeton will play George Mason at 4 pm with a shot to earn a Top 3 seed in the EIVA playoffs.
Kessel, who has been hitting over .300 since his return from injury, had 15 kills, five digs and two blocks in a 25-19, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22 victory over Juniata. Schwagler added 14 kills, four digs and three service aces. Both players hit over .420 for Princeton, which hit .299 for the match and improved to 12-8 for the season.
Junior setter Davis Waddell had 36 assists, while freshman Michael Bagnell had a team-best seven digs. Bagnell added six kills, as did junior middle Brad Howard. It was Howard's block late in the fourth set that ignited the Tigers' final push to the 3-1 victory.
