Sprint Football Drops Home Opener to Cornell, 55-0

PRINCETON, N.J. – Chad Cowden completed 17 passes for 145 yards, but the sprint football team dropped to 0-3 on the season with a 55-0 loss to Cornell University at Princeton Stadium.
Jumping out to a 27-0 lead and a 48-0 margin at the half, the Big Red racked up 333 yards of total offense, which included 219 on the ground. Benjamin Herrera paved the way for the Cornell rushing attack with 11 carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterbacks Rob Pannullo and Karriem Royster combined for 114 yards through the air, completing seven of nine pass attempts. Dan Ferguson led the visitors in receiving with a 25-yard touchdown catch late in the second quarter.
Paving the way for a Tiger defense that held Cornell to one first down, 35 yards and seven points in the second half, A.J. Sibley finished with a team-high nine tackles, including 2.5 for a loss. Nick Barnett and Dan Paolillo combined for 15 stops.
Cowden was 17-for-48 for 145 yards and four interceptions. Ahmed Musse caught four passes for 60 yards, while Tyler Kaye made a team-high five receptions for 43 yards.
Princeton's best chance to get on the scoreboard came late in the fourth quarter. Forcing a fumble on the Cornell 19-yardline, Princeton took over in the red zone with 1:59 on the clock. With the Tigers eventually driving down to the 1-yardline, the Big Red defense stiffened, stopping the Orange and Black on consecutive plays to end the game and preserve the shutout.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, Oct. 17 against Army.
