MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Princeton University sprint football team dropped to 0-5 on the season after suffering a 67-0 road loss to CSFL rival Mansfield.
Up 14-0 after the opening quarter, the Mountaineers (1-5) netted 23 unanswered points in the third before tacking on 30 more in the final frame en route to their first victory of the season. Racking up 510 yards of total offense, Mansfield held Princeton to just 86 yards on 58 plays (1.5 ypp).
Emanuel Castaneda led the Tiger ground game with 31 yards on eight carries (3.9 ypc). Quarterback Chad Cowden completed 9-of-33 passes for 89 yards and four interceptions. Patrick Yu paced the receiving corps with four catches for 45 yards, while Ahmed Musse had a pair of receptions for 35 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Princeton's Adam Grabowski made a game-high 8.5 tackles, including three for a loss. Richard Freling had eight stops, while Dan Paolillo also finished with eight tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.
Headlining a balanced Mansfield attack, Mike Maniscalco completed 16 of his 34 pass attempts for 268 yards and two touchdowns. Eddie Larcom led all receivers with seven catches for 93 yards and a score, while Kurt Logan had three receptions for 48 yards and a TD. Finding the endzone three times, Jeremy Estremera rushed for 78 yards on 15 carries (5.2 ypc), while Scott Conrade gained 65 yards on 11 touches (5.9 ypc).
Princeton returns to action on Friday, Oct. 31 against Penn.
