WEEK IN REVIEW
The Princeton sprint football team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 45-7 loss to Franklin Pierce. Down 17-7 at the intermission, the Tigers surrendered 28 unanswered points, giving up a pair of touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters. Princeton's Chad Cowden and Chris McCord accounted for the Orange & Black's lone score, linking up for a 55-yard touchdown pass just before the intermission.
Cowden completed 14 passes for 184 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. McCord made three receptions for 67 yards while Abe Kielar and Ahmed Musse combined for eight catches and 87 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, A.J. Sibley recorded a game-high nine tackles (six solo). Richard Freling made eight stops and recovered a fumble.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Cornell holds a 61-27-4 all-time record against Princeton. The Tigers won the inaugural meeting in 1937, 30-7. After edging out Big Red in 1998 (22-21), Princeton has dropped each of the last 15 games against Cornell.
LAST MEETING
Extending their win streak over the Tigers to 15 games, the Big Red secured a 50-19 decision over Princeton in 2013. Racing out to a 21-0 first quarter lead, Cornell entered the locker room with a 28-7 cushion before outscoring the Orange & Black 22-12 in the second half.
Taking advantage of four Tiger turnovers, Cornell withstood a strong outing from Chad Cowden, who completed 22 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Chris McCord led the Princeton receiving corps with eight catches for 126 yards and a score. Defensively, Richard Freling made 17 tackles (11 solo), while A.J. Sibley had eight stops (7 solo).
SCOUTING CORNELL
After downing Franklin Pierce in its 2014 season opener (28-7), Cornell has dropped each of its last two match-ups to Penn and Army by scores of 36-19 and 49-7, respectively. Down 42-0 at halftime against the Black Knights last weekend, the Big Red surrendered another TD in the third before notching its only points of the game on a John Zelek score with 5:01 remaining. Karriem Royster completed 8-of-23 pass attempts for 75 yards and an interception, while also rushing for 31 yards. Rob Hendricks made three receptions for 35 yards.
Through three games, Cornell is averaging 285.0 yards per game of total offense, including 163.3 yards per game on the ground. Benjamin Herrera leads the team and ranks fifth in the CSFL in rushing with 70.7 ypg (5.2 ypc). Rob Pannullo and Royster have both seen time under center, combining for a 42.7 percent completion percentage (44-of-103) for 365 yards (121.7 ypg), four touchdowns and five interceptions. Trevor Marrero currently leads the team in receiving, averaging 33.0 yards per game with two touchdowns.
Christopher D'Ambrosio headlines the Big Red defense with 20 tackles (15 solo) including three tackles for a loss. Noah Shephard ranks second on the squad with 17 stops (9 solo), while Ryan Jackson and Chris Sitko each have 12 tackles.
