• Princeton and FDU have met only once, last season in Jadwin Gym. Princeton improved to 6-1 with its 77-55 win over the Knights, who fell to 3-8. FDU returns just 13 of its 55 points from last year, with the largest share of those gone belonging to Sidney Sanders Jr., who had 23 points. Princeton returns 61 of its 77 points, though Denton Koon, who led Princeton with 18 points in that game, is injured. All but 12 of Princeton's points came from the starting five of Koon, Spencer Weisz, Will Barrett (graduated), Hans Brase and Ben Hazel.
• Princeton held FDU to 37.3 percent shooting for the game while shooting 42.9 percent for its part. The Tigers also ruled the glass, 43-28, led by a double-double from Spencer Weisz (17 points, 10 boards). Princeton out-assisted FDU 16-4.
• The Tigers' youth movement is in full effect. Princeton last had a senior play a majority of the game in the Incarnate Word contest on Nov. 22. In the 600 minutes over the three games since, all in the Wooden Legacy, 559 have gone to non-seniors. Princeton has started one junior (Hans Brase), three sophomores (Pete Miller, Spencer Weisz, Steven Cook) and one freshman (Amir Bell) in each of the last three games.
• Over the first seven games last season, 463 of 1,400 minutes went to freshmen and sophomores for the Tigers. Over the first seven games this season, 961 of 1,400 minutes have gone to freshmen and sophomores.
• Of Princeton's 448 points so far, 403, or 90 percent, have been scored by non-seniors. Princeton's top six scorers on per-game average are non-seniors, and five of those are freshmen or sophomores (Weisz, Cook, Miller, Bell, Caruso).
• Amir Bell is the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week after averaging 11.3 ppg at the Wooden Legacy, which saw Bell achieve two of his three double-figure scoring games on the season. His is the first Ivy weekly rookie honor of the season for Princeton, either player or rookie, and Spencer Weisz had four rookie honors last year on his way to being the Ivy Rookie of the Year.
• Spencer Weisz is leading the team at 15.3 ppg. The last sophomore (or younger) to end the season leading the team in scoring was in the 2009-10 season when Douglas Davis '12 averaged 12.7 ppg. Since: Kareem Maddox '11 in 2010-11, Ian Hummer '13 in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and T.J. Bray '14 in 2013-14.
• Entering Tuesday's games, Spencer Weisz leads the Ivy League in minutes per game at 36.6. Through Sunday's games, Weisz was 17th in the nation in total minutes (256) and 27th in minutes per game, Princeton's highest individual rankings. Princeton's 52 3-pointers were 30th in the nation.
• The Tigers' 3-point shooting percentage defense isn't where it was at the end of last season, when Princeton limited opponents to a 32.5 percent clip. So far this season, opponents are shooting 46.9 percent from beyond the arc, allowing foes to make one more 3-pointer (53) than the Tigers have (52) despite Princeton taking 34 more attempts. The Tigers are hitting at a 35.4 percent rate from distance.
• Princeton enters the FDU game coming off its best shooting game of the young season after hitting at a .565 clip against San Jose State Sunday.
• Princeton has rebounded from slow starts and slumps before under Mitch Henderson. The Tigers started 1-5 in Henderson's first season of 2011-12 while having to replace Dan Mavraides '11 and Kareem Maddox '11, two key members of the 2011 Ivy League championship team. The Tigers went 19-7 the rest of the way that year. The team started 1-3 and 5-7 in 2012-13 after moving on from the graduation of Douglas Davis '12, finishing the season 12-4 after the 5-7 start. Last season, after a 12-3 start while adjusting to life without Ian Hummer '13, the Tigers hit a bump by going 0-3 and 3-5 to start the Ivy League season before closing the campaign by winning six of their last seven games.
• Princeton coach Mitch Henderson is presently ninth on the program's all-time wins list, but seventh place isn't far off. He's now at 60 wins, behind predecessor Sydney Johnson (66) and John Thompson III (68). Both are fellow Tiger alumni, Johnson (head coach from 2007-11) in the Class of 1997 and Thompson (head coach from 2000-04) in the Class of 1988.
• In 58 Ivy League seasons, Princeton has posted 52 winning Ivy seasons, four 7-7 finishes and just two losing records.
 |
• The Knights were forecasted ninth in the Northeast Conference preseason poll and have made four NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently in 2005, where they fell in the first round to eventual runner-up Illinois.
• FDU finished last season 10-21. It had wins over Rutgers and Seton Hall in back-to-back games, but followed that with a four-game losing streak that included the loss to Princeton. The Knights return 40 percent of their points from a year ago, losing two of their top four scorers in Sidney Sanders Jr. (19.1 ppg) and Mathias Seilund (9.3 ppg).
• FDU coach Greg Herenda is in his second season leading FDU serving as head coach at UMass-Lowell for five seasons. His coaching tenure includes two seasons as an assistant coach at Yale from 1997-99 in the final two years under Dick Kuchen before current head coach James Jones took over.
• While the Knights are shooting just .315 from beyond the arc, they are holding opponents to a .309 clip. Mustafaa Jones ranked 33rd in the nation (through Sunday's games) with 45 3-point tries and 17th at 3.4 3s made per game.
• Four Knights have started all five of the team's games, including Mustafaa Jones, Matt MacDonald, Darian Anderson and Darius Stokes. Xavier Harris has started four of the team's five games. Stokes is the tallest of those players, at 6-7, while Princeton has two players in its starting five over that height, with Hans Brase at 6-8 and Pete Miller at 6-10.

Mitch Henderson '98 is in his third season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 60-37.
Under Henderson, Princeton is 31-9 at home, 28-14 in the Ivy League, and 18-3 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 47-11 when leading at the half under Henderson.
Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first three campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Luehring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04).
Henderson is in ninth place on the Princeton all-time wins list, with predecessor Sydney Johnson '97 in eighth with 66 wins over four seasons.
Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95.
Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, current San Diego Padre Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14.
Henderson is one of six Princeton alumni who are current Division I head coaches, including John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Joe Scott '87 (Denver), Mike Brennan '94 (American), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond) and Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield).
Prior to Princeton, Henderson coached at Northwestern for 11 seasons under his final head coach at Princeton, Bill Carmody, from 2000-11.
