Coach Billy Pate on the match: "We had a great opportunity to get the doubles point and I'm certain that would have been a huge boost. For whatever reason we didn't respond in singles until we had dug ourselves a huge hole. However, from that point we did a great job of sparking a rally. Florin (Radu) really had a great two days stepping in the lineup and played inspired tennis. His win today brought us to 3-1 with the other matches up for grabs. Unfortunately, we couldn't quite get over the hump completely. Nonetheless, there were some great takeaways from this match. Penn State is very strong this year and clearly a top-25 team. Credit to them for playing well throughout their lineup. We have a much-needed 12-day break from competition so the boys will get some rest and hopefully get over a few nagging injuries." |
