PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University sprint football program will host its annual Alumni Game on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m.
Welcoming a full roster of former varsity sprint football players back to Princeton Stadium, current members of this year's team will compete with their predecessors in a live scrimmage.
"The sprint football alumni game is a unique opportunity for our team to learn how to compete from those former scholar-athletes who helped build this program,” said head coach Sean Morey. “Our alumni are comprised of hard-working, devoted and like-minded competitors who love this game and recognize how their Princeton experience was forever enriched by their commitment to excellence on the gridiron and to the sprint football program."
Entering his first season on the Tigers' sideline, Morey is a Super Bowl champion and former Ivy League standout at Brown. Graduating from his alma mater in 1999, Morey was the program's first Ivy League Rookie (1995) and Player of the Year (1997). A three-time All-Ivy and All-New England selection, he twice garnered All-America accolades and led the NCAA Division I-AA in receiving as a junior.
Morey was drafted in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. After stints for NFL Europe's Barcelona Dragons and the Philadelphia Eagles, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Named the special teams captain in 2005, he became the first Brown alumnus to win a Super Bowl. Signing with the Arizona Cardinals in 2007, he made a Pro Bowl appearance and earned another trip to the Super Bowl.
Sprint football begins its regular season at Navy on Friday, Sept. 19. The Tigers host Post University in the team's home opener on Sept. 26.
