WEEK IN REVIEW
Princeton opened its 2014 season last Friday with a 63-0 loss to the United States Naval Academy. The Midshipmen racked up 204 of their 288 yards of total offense on the ground, led by Eric Wellmon, who finished with 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Tigers' Chad Cowden completed seven passes for 40 yards, while Chris McCord led the team with 47 all-purpose yards (19 receiving, 28 kick return). On the defensive end, Richard Freling made a team-high six tackles, including one for a loss.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Post is 4-0 all-time against Princeton. Winning the inaugural meeting in 2010 by a score of 33-18, the Eagles prevailed in the following year's rematch, 48-0. In 2012, Post narrowly escaped with a 32-29 overtime win at Princeton before taking last year's showdown, 54-14.
LAST MEETING
Up 21-0 in the first quarter and 41-8 at the half, Post cruised to a 54-14 victory in Waterbury, Conn. last season. Rushing for 240 yards, the Eagles finished with 409 yards of total offense. Greg Volpe threw for 112 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 61 yards and a score.
Princeton's Chad Cowden completed 16-of-29 pass attempts for 100 yards and a touchdown, while Bob Dougherty went 6-for-10 for 116 yards and a TD. Alex Momenee and A.J. Sibley combined for 87 yards on the ground, while Chris McCord made eight receptions for 73 yards. Sibley led the defense with eight tackles (7 solo).
SCOUTING POST
Post opened its season with a 31-18 loss to Army. Up 12-3 at the half, the Eagles surrendered 21 unanswered points in the third quarter. The Black Knights rolled up 378 yards of total offense against Post, including 174 on the ground. Anthony Jamele led the Eagles with 11 tackles (8 solo), including 2.5 for a loss. Dawson Lindeman and Chris Leggio each made nine stops.
On the other side of the ball, Greg Volpe completed nine of his 22 pass attempts for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Jay'Len Mahan and Rahmi Roundtree each finished with three receptions for 55 and 48 yards, respectively. Dashawn Wingate led the Post rushing attack with 73 yards on five carries (14.6 ypc), while Joseph Lynch gained 39 yards on 15 touches (2.6 ypc).
