WEEK IN REVIEW
Due to a limited number of active players, Princeton's home opener against Post University, originally scheduled for Friday, Sept. 26 was postponed until Nov. 7. Two weeks ago, the Tigers kicked off their 2014 campaign with a 63-0 loss to the United States Naval Academy. Racking up 288 yards of total offense, including 204 on the ground, the Midshipmen were led by Eric Wellmon, who finished with 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Chris McCord led Princeton with 47 all-purpose yards (19 receiving, 28 kick return), while Chad Cowden completed seven passes for 40 yards. Defensively, Richard Freling made a team-high six tackles, including one for a loss.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Franklin Pierce is 2-0 all-time against Princeton. Winning the inaugural meeting in 2012 by a score of 21-14, the Ravens also emerged victorious in last season's showdown at Princeton Stadium, 66-12.
LAST MEETING
Franklin Pierce secured a 66-12 decision over Princeton in last year's match-up at Princeton Stadium. Racing out to a 40-0 lead, the Ravens amassed 454 yards of total offense. With the FPU ground game rolling up 344 rushing yards, quarterback Gary Benedetti completed all four of his pass attempts for 110 yards and a touchdown.
The Orange and Black's Kahdeem Cohens led Princeton with two touchdowns and a pair of blocked Franklin Pierce extra-point attempts, while Bob Dougherty threw for 214 yards and a score. On the other side of the ball, Emanuel Castaneda made a game-high nine tackles (7 solo), while Kyle Douglas made eight stops (7 solo).
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
The Ravens head into Friday night's showdown with a 0-2 record having dropped a pair of games to Army (27-13) and Cornell (28-7). Outscored 55-20 over the first two weeks of the season, Franklin Pierce is surrendering 313.5 yards of total offense per game. Despite a run defense that ranks second in the CSFL (88.5 ypg), opponents have found success against the Ravens through the air, with FPU allowing a league-high 225.0 yards per game. Christopher Nee leads the Ravens with 13 tackles (11 solo), while Brandon Knight has 12 stops (11 solo) with a pair of break-ups. John Tilton has recorded a team-best three sacks and four tackles for a loss.
Offensively, Jose Melo has completed 18-of-42 pass attempts (42.9 percent) for 208 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Demitri Moreno leads the team in rushing with 51.0 yards per game (3.5 ypc), while Andrew Jean has made a team-high five receptions for 70 yards (35.0 ypg) and a touchdown.
