Volleyball Caps California Trip With Impressive Sweep Of UC-San Diego
January 29, 2015 | Men's Volleyball
It's no surprise to see Cody Kessel leading the Princeton volleyball offense. But if Junior Oboh is going to consistently play from the middle the way he has in the last two Tiger matches, that will turn plenty of heads.
Princeton improved to 2-4 on the season by punctuating its a three-match California trip with a victory for the second time in three weeks. The Tigers grinded out a hard-fought second set in the middle of two comfortable victories for a 25-18, 29-27, 25-14 win over the Tritons.
Kessel, an Honorable Mention All-America last season, led the Tigers with 15 kills, six blocks and four digs in the win. Oboh, coming off a 10-kill showing at No. 4 UC-Irvine, added 11 kills and hit .625 in the 3-0 win.
Sophomore Chris Kennedy recorded 34 assists, while both senior libero Tony Ensbury and freshman Kendall Ratter had a team-best 16 digs apiece.
The Tigers will return east and open EIVA play next weekend at NJIT.
