Water Polo Claims Another Tight Victory Over CWPA Rival Bucknell
October 11, 2015 | Men's Water Polo
Jordan Colina scored two goals, including one in the crucial third period, to lead the Princeton men's water polo team to a 6-4 road win at Bucknell Saturday night.
Princeton improved to 43-14 all-time against the Bison, though the games have been tight over the last couple years. After beating Bucknell by either two or three goals in three contests last season, the Tigers broke a 2-2 halftime tie with a 3-1 third quarter en route to the victory.
Princeton is now 10-3 overall, 3-0 in the CWPA, while Bucknell fell to 8-4, 1-2 in the CWPA.
Besides Colina's pair, Princeton got goals from Ryan Wilson, Jovan Jeremic, Matt Payne and Connor McGoldrick in the victory.
Princeton held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half, and then 3-2 in the third quarter, but Bucknell had answers each time. Wilson scored late in the third to open a 4-3 lead, but McGoldrick added his seventh goal of the season with 15 seconds remaining to give the Tigers their first two-goal lead of the game.
Payne's seventh of the season made it 6-3, and the Tigers allowed only one more en route to the victory.
Princeton will return home next weekend to host the Ivy Championships.
