PRINCETON, N.J. (10/12/15) - Princeton begins a three-game homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 13 when the men's soccer team hosts Fairleigh Dickinson. Game time is at 7 p.m.
Princeton owns a 15-8-1 edge in the all-time series with FDU, but the Knights won the last game, a 3-2 double overtime decision to start the 2014 season. The Tigers had a 2-0 lead before conceding three goals off of set pieces with FDU having a 16-8 shot advantage.
FDU is 2-7-1 on the season and looking for its first win since Sept. 13's win over No. 21 American. Most recently the Knights lost its NEC opener, 3-2 to LIU Brooklyn. The team gives up an average of 14.7 shots per game and takes 9.0. Pacing the team's offense is Christian Dietrich, who has eight points with a team-high four assists and two goals. Javen Palmer has the most goals on the team, with three, and adds one assist. Brett Conrads has five points, while Sam Durkot and Jordon Ellison had four each. Matthew Weigner has a 1.94 goals against average and a .710 save percentage, playing all but two minutes in goal.
The Tigers are 4-3-2 overall and coming off of a 1-1 tie with Brown on Saturday. At home, Princeton is 2-0-1 this season. The team is led offensively by the Ivy League Player of the Week Thomas Sanner. Sanner scored twice last week as Princeton went 1-0-1 and he leads the league in goals with seven and points with 16. Senior midfielders Brendan McSherry and Nico Hurtado add two goals and three assists each, while senior defender Josh Miller has two goals and one assist. In goal, senior Ben Hummel has a 1.57 GAA and a .683 save percentage.
