TRENTON, N.J. (10/31/15) - Sophomore Alysia DaSilva earned her second collegiate shutout as the Princeton women's hockey team blanked Brown 3-0 on the road Saturday, Oct. 31. The Tigers earned a weekend sweep as they started ECAC play, following a 4-3 win over Yale yesterday.
DaSilva made 16 saves in her first victory of the season to help Princeton improve to to 4-0 on the season.
Princeton's first goal got started when the Tigers were on the power play, walking the puck back up the ice was sophomore Kiersten Falck. Just as she crossed the checkered red, Brown's Katie Lynch was released from her tripping infraction. Falck skated to the outside and put the puck in front of the net just as she reached the extended red. Junior Fiona McKenna took a shot and hit the pads of Julianne Landry and it rebounded out to Tucker who one-timed over the left shoulder at 3:43 of the first.
Junior Kelsey Koelzer expanded the lead with a power-play goal about 10 minutes later. She backhanded a pass from freshman Karlie Lund after junior Molly Contini centered the puck to Lund.
Junior Morgan Sly sealed the victory with a goal just 2:01 into the third. Freshman Stephanie Sucharda was the recipient of a face off win in the Princeton zone, she started down the right boards before finding Lund open in the neutral ice. Lund whipped a shot as she got to the top of the right circle, that was deflected by her defender and Sly pounced on it, going top shelf.
Princeton outshot Brown 28-16 and was 1 for 3 on the power play and 6 for 6 on the penalty kill.
The Tigers host Cornell & Colgate next weekend, in the home opener, on Nov. 6 & 7.
