• Princeton is 3-0 for the first time since the 2003-04 season and will try to start 4-0 for the first time since the 1997-98 season with a win over FDU. All fans in attendance at Wednesday's game will receive pom-poms to root on the Tigers, and fans bringing an unwrapped toy to donate to the Teams and Toys program will get free admission.
• The Princeton-FDU series is a new one, starting just two seasons ago with a 77-55 Princeton win in Jadwin Gym. The Knights got their revenge last year with an 89-85 win in Hackensack.
• Princeton is coming off a game against Lafayette in which it scored 104 points, the ninth-most in a game in program history and the most since 1971. The 52-point margin of victory was the most over a D-1 opponent since 1968, and it came in a game that saw all 15 Tigers play and none more than 20 minutes. Princeton had 58 bench points in the win with 14 coming from freshman Noah Bramlage, 12 from sophomore Mike LeBlanc and 12 from rookie Devin Cannady. Starters Henry Caruso (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Steven Cook (12 points, 10 rebounds) each had a first career double-double.
• Princeton ditched its free throw woes Wednesday, hitting 11 of 13 (.846) after making 31 of 55 (.564) against Rider and Saint Peter's.
• The Tigers' 17 3-pointers were one off its most against a D-1 opponent in the rule's history (18 vs. Pacific, 2013) and were more than the Tigers hit in their first two games (14). Princeton shot 14 of 42 (.333) from the arc over the first two games and 17 of 35 (.486) against Lafayette.
• The Tigers have committed 10 turnovers in each of the first three games, down from the team's 12.2 turnover-per-game average from last season.
• Princeton posted narrow rebounding advantages over the first two games, but the Tigers dominated the glass Wednesday night, out-boarding Lafayette by 24. It's the first time since the 2010-11 season that the Tigers outrebounded their first three opponents. That year, Princeton started the season outrebounding its first five foes.
• The Tigers have also improved defensively from a season ago in the early-going this fall, holding teams to a .383 clip from the field and .339 from beyond the arc and getting 18 steals to 11 for opponents. Last year, Princeton finished allowing a .437 clip from the field, .366 from 3 and getting 165 steals to 178 for opponents. The Tigers have also blocked 11 shots to six for the opponents a year after being out-blocked 105-90.
• Only two of the seven players who scored for FDU against Princeton last year are back, as the Knights return Darian Anderson's 17 points and Earl Potts Jr.'s 11. Princeton returns 54 of 85 points, led by 18 from Spencer Weisz, 12 from Amir Bell and 11 from Steven Cook. FDU lost Matt MacDonald and his 29 points and 22 from Mustafaa Jones, while Princeton graduated Clay Wilson's 15 and lost Hans Brase's 16 to injury. The Tigers will see Matt MacDonald again down the line, as he transferred to Penn and will be able to play next season.
• Princeton has had 241 of its 243 points and 589 of its 600 minutes this season from non-seniors, with the team's 11 leading scorers able to return next season.
• Princeton has two players with double-figure assists over the first two games, and each has done well at taking care of the bal. Spencer Weisz has 12 helpers and just two turnovers, while Amir Bell has 10 assists and three turnovers. Bell's five assists last time out against Lafayette tied a career best for the sophomore.

• FDU was picked ninth in the 10-team Northeast Conference in the league's preseason coaches poll. The Knights missed out on the NEC Tournament last year, finishing 3-15 in the league and 8-21 overall.
• FDU returns two of its five most common starters a year ago in Darian Anderson (11.4 ppg in 2014-15) and Earl Potts Jr. (6.6 ppg in 2014-15). Those two are leading the team so far this year, with Potts at 15.0 ppg and 6.7 rebounds and Anderson at 14.2 ppg and 3.5 assists per game.
• The Knights snapped a three-game skid with a 77-62 home win Saturday over another Princeton opponent this year, Saint Peter's. FDU is shooting .469 from the field but allowing .466, and the Knights are outrebounded by an average of 6.6 boards per game.
• FDU coach Greg Herenda is in his third season after coming over from UMass Lowell, where he was the head coach. Herenda spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Yale from 1997-99.

Mitch Henderson '98 is in his fifth season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 77-46. Under Henderson, Princeton is 43-11 at home, 37-19 in the Ivy League, and 23-5 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 61-16 when leading at the half under Henderson. Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first four campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Leuhring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04). Henderson is in seventh place on the Princeton all-time wins list. Bill Carmody, who was a Princeton assistant for Henderson's first two seasons and head coach for Henderson's last two, is in sixth place with 92 wins. Carmody hired Henderson as an assistant coach at Northwestern in 2000, where Henderson remained for 11 seasons until coming to Princeton. Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95. Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14. Henderson is one of six Princeton alumni who are current Division I head coaches, including John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Joe Scott '87 (Denver), Mike Brennan '94 (American), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond) and Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield). |
