• As they did 17 years ago to the day, Princeton and Maryland will meet in what was then Baltimore Arena and what is now Royal Farms Arena. Then, as now, Maryland is highly ranked, fifth by the AP in that Dec. 19, 1998 meeting and sixth by the AP and seventh by the coaches in Saturday's game. Maryland won that one 81-58 and the Terps won a closer battle three years later in Washington, D.C., 61-53 with Maryland again ranked fifth by the AP. That was the last time Princeton and Maryland met.
• Princeton broke an 11-game skid against Big Ten teams with an 81-79 overtime win at Penn State two seasons ago, getting what was the team's first win over a Big Ten opponent since defeating Wisconsin in 1985.
• Princeton is ranked No. 2 in the Ivy League in both scoring offense (77.0 ppg, Columbia 77.9) and scoring defense (66.2 ppg allowed, Harvard 63.6), but Princeton is only fifth in shooting percentage (.432) while the team's field goal percentage allowed (.417, second behind Harvard at .379) more closely aligns with its scoring defense rank. The Tigers have helped make up for that by having the second-best rebounding margin in the Ivy (+6.9, Yale +10.3).
• Entering Friday's games, Princeton was in the top 10 percent nationally (top 34) in three statistical categories, including fewest turnovers (11th, 90), fewest fouls (18th, 145) and defensive rebounds per game (20th, 29.88). Amir Bell, Henry Caruso, Devin Cannady, Pete Miller and Spencer Weisz combined for 15 top-250 individual rankings, led by Cannady's No. 4 ranking in field goal percentage at .960.
• Princeton's 77.0 ppg average isn't far from the team record for a season-ending scoring average of 79.74, set in 1971-72.
• Under Mitch Henderson, Princeton has scored 90 points in a game five times. That's more than all other post-Pete Carril coaches combined and the fourth-most under a coach in program history. Princeton scored 90+ 21 times under Pete Carril, 18 times under Butch van Breda Kolff and 11 times under Cappy Cappon.
• Princeton has shot .400 or better from the field six times in the eight games this season and is 6-0 in those games. Princeton is 0-2 when not shooting at least .400.
• The number of 3-pointers Princeton makes hasn't been a predictor of wins so far this season. The Tigers are 2-1 when they make at least 10 3s and 4-1 when they make fewer than 10.
• Princeton's juniors (Caruso, Cook, Miller, Rayner, Weisz) have scored 375 of the team's 616 points, or 60.9 percent. Players who are able to return next year have scored 99.7 percent of the team's points (614 of 616).
• Among those juniors is Henry Caruso, who has reset his career high in scoring twice already this season, putting in a career-best 27 Nov. 30 against FDU and then scoring 29 points Dec. 17 against Liberty. He is averaging 18.5 points per game on the season and has scored a total of 148 points, closing in on his total from all of last season (176). He scored three points as a rookie. Caruso has surged into the team lead in rebounding at 8.0 rpg and has three double-doubles this season, the first three of his career.
• No Tiger has ended the season averaging as many as 18.5 points per game, which Caruso is averaging now, since Brian Taylor averaged 25.0 ppg in 1971-72. T.J. Bray averaged 18.0 ppg two seasons ago.
• Princeton has had six double-doubles this season, including three in one game at Lipscomb, the first time that has happened in program history. Princeton's six double-doubles this season, by four players (Caruso 3, Cook, Miller, Weisz) have already surpassed last year's five, which were all by Hans Brase. Princeton had seven double-doubles by four players in 2013-14.
• Caruso's classmate, Pete Miller, has 52 rebounds through the first eight games and is past the halfway mark to his total from last season, 74. Miller averaged 2.3 boards a game as a rookie and 2.4 as a sophomore but is averaging 6.5 this year.
• The last time Princeton faced an AP-ranked team was Nov. 21, 2012, losing at No. 6 Syracuse 73-53. Princeton last beat an AP-ranked team was in its second-most recent game vs. a top-25 foe when Harvard came to Jadwin Gym ranked 25th on Feb. 11, 2012 and Princeton won 70-62.
• The last time Princeton beat a team ranked sixth or better by the AP, as Maryland is, was on Jan. 3, 1977, when No. 2 Notre Dame came to Jadwin Gym and lost 76-62. • Maryland coach Mark Turgeon spent a year working not too far from Princeton, serving as an assistant under his college coach, Larry Brown, with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1997-98 season before taking over as the head coach at Jacksonville State in Alabama. Turgeon and Princeton coach Mitch Henderson arrived at their current posts around the same time, both starting for the 2011-12 season.
• Maryland is 16-15 all-time against the Ivy League, with Penn, the closest Ivy to Maryland, recording 12 of the Ivy's wins and Princeton the other three. Almost none of those 31 games are recent, however. The only Ivy Maryland has played since its last meeting with Princeton in 2001 is Cornell, which Maryland beat 70-62 on Jan. 3, 2012 in College Park. The Terps, who improved to 10-3 with the win, were ahead of the Big Red by just a point, 61-60, with two minutes left before closing the game on a 9-2 run to drop Cornell to 4-9.
• Maryland opened the season with six straight wins before taking their first loss, 89-81 at North Carolina on Dec. 1. Maryland has bounced back with three straight wins, including a 10-point victory over UConn at Madison Square Garden, to stand at 9-1. The Princeton game will be Maryland's first since last Saturday's home win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, and it'll be the Terps' first game in Baltimore since Nov. 30, 1999 against Iowa.

| Mitch Henderson '98 is in his fifth season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 80-48. Under Henderson, Princeton is 45-11 at home, 37-19 in the Ivy League, and 23-5 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 64-16 when leading at the half under Henderson. Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first four campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Leuhring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04). Henderson is in seventh place on the Princeton all-time wins list. Bill Carmody, who was a Princeton assistant for Henderson's first two seasons and head coach for Henderson's last two, is in sixth place with 92 wins. Carmody hired Henderson as an assistant coach at Northwestern in 2000, where Henderson remained for 11 seasons until coming to Princeton. Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95. Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14.
