Men's Squash Tops Williams, Nearly Stuns No. 3 St. Lawrence In Home Duo
December 06, 2015 | Men's Squash
Princeton men's squash head coach Sean Wilkinson knows his young Tigers are close to breaking into the top tier of college squash, but they haven't quite figured out how to post that fifth win yet. Following an 8-1 home victory over Wiliiams, the Tigers pushed reigning CSA finalist St. Lawrence before falling 6-3 in Jadwin.
The Tigers made St. Lawrence earn its victory at Jadwin, which included four 3-1 wins and a grueling 3-2 win at the No. 6 spot. Princeton won all three matches between 7-9, including a 3-0 win for junior Vivek Dinodia, who remains unbeaten on the season. Sophomore Abhimanyu Shah and freshman William Oon were also winners over the Saints.
Senior Michael LeBlanc pushed Tim Lasusa at No. 6 and led 2-1, but he dropped 11-6 and 11-7 games in the five-game loss. Freshmen Clark Doyle and Spencer Anton, as well as sophomore Jarryd Osborne, each got a win in their matches, but all lost in four.
Princeton, which will host Rochester Sunday on the Ivy League Digital Network, topped Williams 8-1 in the opener. Freshman Cody Cortes picked up his first collegiate win at the No. 1 spot by closing out Jamie Ruggiero 11-2 in the fourth game.
