Wrestling Heads Into "Celebration" With Momentum From 25-9 Win At F&M
February 01, 2015 | Wrestling
Princeton is now 6-5 on the season and gathered some momentum heading into Saturday's "Celebration of Princeton Wrestling," when the Tigers host both Harvard (1 pm) and Brown (6 pm) at Dillon Gym.
Following a win by senior Ryan Cash that helped Princeton split the opening two matches, Laster battled Robert Ruiz well beyond the seven-minute mark for his 19th win of the season. Both Laster and Ruiz earned an escape point in regulation, and then another in the first set of sudden-victory periods. Finally, Laster managed a takedown in the second overtime session to claim the 4-2 win.
After a split of the next two matches, including a decision for Nick Maselli, freshman Jonathan Schleifer scored a first-period pin for his 18th win of the season. The Tigers put the match away from there, getting a decision from Judd Ziegler and a major from Brett Harner to clinch the win.
Sophomore Ray O'Donnell finished the effort off with a 5-3 victory over Alex Henry.
