Men's Squash Drops 6-3 Decision At Yale, Will Honor Senior Class Friday
February 01, 2015 | Men's Squash
Princeton claimed one match in each of the three shifts, including two from its senior All-America duo, but those wouldn't be enough for the Tigers.
The first win came from sophomore Ben Leizman, one of the heroes of Wednesday's 5-4 home win over Penn. Leizman split the opening two games against Pehlaaj Bajwa, then claimed wins of 11-5 and 11-6 to take the match.
Yale won at No. 3 and held a 2-0 lead at No. 6, but Tiger junior Michael LeBlanc fought back for an 11-8 win in the third game and then pushed deep into the fourth game. Thomas Kingshott held on in the fourth for an 11-8 win to give Yale the early edge.
Yale swept at No. 5, but Tiger senior Tyler Osborne battled for a 12-10 win in his fourth game to give Princeton its second win. Like Leizman, he had split the first two games, but finished off Thomas Demblinski for the win.
That set up a big swing match at No. 8, where Princeton freshman Abhimanyu Shah rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 to force a fifth game. Shah took Pierson Broadwater to extra points, but ultimately fell 13-11 in the final game.
Yale took two of the final three to clinch the 6-3 win, though senior Samuel Kang posted an impressive 3-0 win over Sam Fenwick at the No. 1 spot.
